Diving with Punta Sur Divers

For certified divers we can run up to five dives per day. In the mornings we do two dives, in the afternoon we can go out again for two more dives and finally we have the option of doing a night dive.

For details and specifics about our trips please go here.

splendid-toad-fish-mouth-openBy default all our dives are within the National Marine Park. However, we do have some special trips north of the Marine Park where we can dive with eagle rays during the winter or go for a lion fish safari followed by a nice ceviche of the catch (since hunting lion fish inside the National Park is not allowed for divers that aren’t park guides).

For day trips we normally do two tank trips, but if you only want to do one dive that is also possible. For either single or double tank options, see prices here. Note that the price per day goes down if you buy multi-day packages.

We can pick you up by boat if you are staying at any of the waterfront resorts or villas south of Marina Fonatur. Some hotels (e.g. Iberostar, Occidental, Allegro, Sunscape, among others) charge a small pier fee that you need to take care of. If you plan on staying in town we meet at the Marina Fonatur 15 minutes before departure time (see a map here and a photo here).

If you are already certified but are also looking to improve your diving experience, we offer several PADI courses that can help you become more comfortable underwater. Some of our most popular courses are the Advanced Open Water course, Peak Performance Bouyancy, Night Diver, Deep Diver and Enriched Air Diver if you have good air consumption and would like to stay down for longer without getting so close to the regular air no decompression limits.

It is not a requirement but we strongly recommend having some form of diving insurance like DAN, DiveAssure, Aquamed, etc. To sign up for DAN insurance, click here if you live in Canada or the US. If you’re interested in purchasing travel insurance as well, click here. If you live outside of the US or Canada use this link instead.

If you’re looking to stay in town we recommend Villa Las Anclas, and if you’re looking for an experience that’s off the beaten path, you’ll love our very own jungle AirBnB, Casa Caney.

If you have your own equipment we can offer a valet service and have your gear ready everyday on the boat. We can store it overnight or you can take it with you. Just let us know what do you prefer.
